In Prestartr, a defect is a record of a failure or issue affecting equipment or other controlled assets such as plant. 

Defects can be created manually via the Dashboard or automatically through custom forms using Show/Hide Rules, which support all question fields, combo boxes, and multiselect combo boxes. 

The Defect Dashboard allows users to import/export lists, apply filters, sort and customize columns, view audit logs, and perform bulk updates to fields like Responsible Person, Status, Priority, and Zone. 

Defects remain open until marked as closed, either manually or automatically when a linked work order is completed. If a defect is created via a form, that form will display a tab showing the defect’s name and status.
